Sharon Smith, Home Manager at Langley Park Care Home has been crowned ‘Home Manager of the Year’ at the Four Seasons Care Awards.
The award Sharon won commends her for how she continues to make a difference and provide special resident experiences on a daily basis, whilst ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of Langley Park.
Following over 1,000 nominations, Sharon was shortlisted with five other colleagues from over 250 Four Seasons Care Homes across the UK.
Steven Bainbridge, Head of Assurance for Four Seasons Health Care, who presented Sharon with this award said: “It was a pleasure and an inspiration speaking to all of the nominated Home Managers and it was a difficult decision, as they are all doing an exceptional job delivering special resident, relative and colleague experiences. So congratulations to all of our finalists.
“Our winner commented that their home is more than just a place of work and that when she arrives each day she thinks, with a smile on her face, 'It’s nice to be home'. She lives the values each day and is always looking for new ways to engage with residents’ wants and wishes. She is a fantastic role model and mentor for new home managers and a true embodiment of an outstanding Manager. Congratulations Sharon, you’re a very worthy winner.”
Sandra Brown, Regional Manager for Durham, said: “Sharon has worked at Langley Park since the home opened in 1991. She has worked as Care Assistant, Senior Care Assistant and Administrator prior to being appointed Home Manager. Sharon leads a very successful team and achieved a fantastic 'Outstanding' on her CQC inspection this year. As well as leading and supporting a very successful home, Sharon is always prepared to work in the region using her experience to support homes in need. Sharon is the steadying hand on the tiller at Langley Park and the success of the home is in most part down to her. She has established strong links with the regulators and referrers. Well done Sharon!”
On receiving the award, Sharon said: “I can’t believe I won this award. It was truly unexpected. I want to thank the person who nominated me, it is a very nice feeling.”
