The award Nichola won commends her for providing the residents in Regency Care Home with special experiences, meeting their care needs and providing support for the Home Manager and leading the care team.

Following over 1,000 nominations, Nichola was shortlisted with five other colleagues from over 250 Four Seasons Care Homes across the UK.

Amanda Cunningham, Care Services Director for Four Seasons Health Care, who helped judge this award said: “As judges for this award, we were impressed by the passion and enthusiasm shown by all of the finalists. It was lovely to hear about the pivotal role our Deputy Home Managers play in running our homes, while still finding time to go the extra mile in ensuring the delivery of special resident experiences. Nichola has shown a continued dedication to caring for others. She showed a breadth of knowledge about all areas of home life, including helping her team develop and supporting the Home Manager. What really shone through, though, was this person’s determination to make a difference to residents, particularly at the end of their lives. Nichola spoke of the importance of ensuring that residents have a voice, and finding out about their lives so that we can provide the best care in our homes because – in our winner’s words – “it’s their home”. Congratulations Nichola.”

Angela Clarke, Regional Manager for Greater Manchester, said: “Nicola is an inspiration to all the team who she works with. When facing daily challenges in her work she uses her initiative to find solutions in the best interest of the residents she cares for and the business as a whole. She is an excellent role model not only in her management role but also in her role as a qualified Nurse. In her daily work she shows empathy and understanding to each residents' needs acting as an advocate where required and supporting and encouraging each residents’ individuality. As a clinical professional she is credit to the Nursing profession and as a Manager an asset to the business. You are very deserving of this award Nichola!”

On receiving the award, Nichola said: “I love my job, so winning this award is the icing on the cake. I don’t do anything special, I just come to work and do my utmost to help the residents in my home. I want to thank the person who nominated me; it’s very humbling to know you’re highly thought of by your colleagues.”
