John Kelland, who works closely with Ty Gwynno Care Home in Ponytpridd has received the ‘Resident/Relative Contribution of the Year’ award at the Four Seasons Care Awards.
The award John won commends him for the special contribution that he has made to the residents and team in the home.
Following over 1,000 nominations, John was shortlisted with five other people from over 250 Four Seasons Care Homes across the UK.
Charlotte Oppong-Agyare, Marketing and Sales Director for Four Seasons Health Care, who presented John with this award, said: “The words used in the nominations showed just how fond our colleagues at the homes are of these individuals and how they appreciate everything they do. John is described as a valued ambassador, someone who never misses an event or meeting and always participates in fundraising – even helping at the home’s car wash event at the marvellous age of 87! We are very lucky to have John and all of the other people who help out in our homes. Well done John.”
Janina John, Home Manager at Ty Gwynno Care Home, added: “Mr Kelland is a caring and respectful gentleman who has made a definite difference to his dearly departed wife and the promotion of the exceptional care delivered by all at Ty Gwynno. He has now been promoted to 'Volunteer' and so will be nominated in that category in 2018. Congratulations John!”
On receiving the award, John said: “I was over the moon when I found out I was nominated. It means so much to me. I am completely shocked and humbled to have won. I’m not special in any way, but I am privileged to be highly thought of by my friends in Ty Gwynno.”
