It's day three of Winter Warmers and today we are sharing some very special stories from our homes.
Here at Four Seasons Health Care we recognise the importance of understanding each individual’s story. Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting many of our Four Seasons Health Care residents and witnessing the special bond our colleagues share with them. Here we explore Margarette's and Gwen's amazing stories in more detail...
Margarette lives at Wansbeck Care Home. Here, Personal Activities Leader (PAL), Allana Smith speaks to Margarette about the contents of her memory box, and we were lucky enough to catch it all on camera!
With help from Allana, Margarette shares with us snippets of her life including her memories from the war (seeing bananas for the first time in 5 years!), and of holidays dancing in Blackpool. Margarette also petitioned for women to be able to return to work after they were married - something that was unheard of at the time.
Margarette shared with us her life with her husband Cyril. Quite the romantic Cyril wrote love letters to Margarette. They had three children together, and were married for over 50 years. Here is just a part of their love story…
Gwen Parr lives at Dene Grange Care Home. Gwen, together with Senior Carer Ann, showed us come of the amazing art Gwen likes to paint. Gwen paints mainly landscapes from memory. Senior Carer Ann tells us she knows when Gwen is in a bad mood by the colours she uses in her drawings. Gwen shared with us tales from her travels, her family tree and her love for her dogs.
Here are just some of her beautiful paintings:
Thank you to Gwen and Margarette for taking the time to share your stories with us. We loved hearing them and we hope you did too!
