Our care team colleagues are dedicated to ensuring our residents celebrate Christmas Day in style! You may have noticed the many news stories from our homes giving you just a little bit of insight into the Christmas Day preparations.
The festive period is also a time when loved ones are remembered, Jenny Hololob, Layden Court Home Manager, said: “Everyone has really got into the festive spirit this year. Residents have been busy making a nativity set, as you will see in the pic, it looks beautiful, and Santa Ted is keeping the stable safe, and guarding the Mince Pies. We’ve also been out Christmas shopping getting those last few bits for loved ones.
“As a lovely tribute to the memory of those special people we have loved and lost, we have dedicated our tree in Reception as a Memory Tree for all residents, visitors and team. Merry Christmas from everyone here at Layden Court”.
Care home employee wins £1m but still plans to work on Christmas Day
Carehome.co.uk recently shared an amazing story of a care worker’s dedication. Patricia Aldridge, from Wexham, near Slough won £1M with her husband Robert, 57, on the Lotto draw on 9 December.
But instead of handing in her noticed Patricia actually revealed she still plans to work, and is honouring her commitment to work on Christmas Day because she simply “loves” working in a care home.
The 55-year-old said: “I’ve already committed to working Christmas Day and couldn’t drop out now and make someone else have to change their Christmas plans. We’ll still be able to enjoy our own celebrations on another day, safe in the knowledge that it’s going to feel a lot like Christmas more regularly for the Aldridge family.”
She added: “Neither of us plan to give up work just yet but it’s nice knowing we have the security to take things easier when, and if, we need to.”
